Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her stage title Ari Lennox is an American singer and songwriter from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's label Dreamville Records. Her first single was released with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music on the internet in 2012 when she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued uploading her music on the internet, as well as her own single Bound. The song Sweat it part of Omen's Elephant Eyes album on July 21 2015. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's references. In the following season, the music was played around Dreamville. It was announced on December 8 that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she sang alongside Cozz in the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she was able to appear on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video to accompany it was released on September 5th. On November 9 she dropped two more singles: the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, on November 13 the singer released two new singles titled One and Pdigree. One or Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single the 26th of February, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed with Cole on The Creed II sound track on November 16. The song, released with a video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than three million times over the first 7 days. In December 2018 she performed on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour that featured 6LACK.
